How does hum debugger work

Hazelrigg Industries might be a new name, but founders George and Geoff Hazelrigg are no strangers to professional recording equipment. For years, they built and repaired gear for their own I never really set out to "review" gear, per se; it just sits around the studio until it fights its way into the workflow. I'm sure that wears out the guys who send me the stuff, but it's really my Ok, I know that last issue I reviewed a really nice high-end compressor and I still love those Geoff Dakings , but compressors to me are the equivalent of spices to a chef.

Therefore, you need a lot The original model was released in , and aside from some faster attack times and the smaller form factor, it I've been using a pair of Hamptone HOC1 single-channel compressors on my mixing and tracking sessions for several months now, and they have become my favorite tools. I think this is a very unique and Most of Jim Williams has spent much of his 56 years working with some of the biggest names in the music business, including Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin and Stevie Wonder.

He's the owner of Audio Upgrades, The pedal does a brilliant job of killing off that nasty single coil hum. This is all well and good, but if you are like me and prefer to crank up the gain a bit more issues with your tone start to emerge. With the gain cranked right up at 3 o clock on my Blackstar HT-5 the Hum Debugger introduced a nasty electronic-like reverb sound to my tone.

I liken it to the effect used for the Darleks in Doctor Who. Very cool for crazy sounds and mucking around, but extremely undesirable when you want your nice pure high gain tone. The strong setting made the effect even more pronounced. In last ditch attempt to find a positive outcome I hooked up the Hum Debugger in the effects loop, and discovered a far better result.

Posts: 5, Bill Lawrence's pickups all have the highs and clarity of a perfectly wound single coil pickup, and even better clarity than traditional Fender style pickups, but his single coils the micros especially, but also the Keystones are substantially less noisy than their conventional counterparts while the noisefree models are I had the Hum Debugger and I quickly git rid of it.

It does a weird slapback echo thing when you start to add gain. It sounded good clean but I couldnt stand it with any kind of gain. I ended up going with noiseless pickups and couldnt be happier. I can gig just anywhere and be noise free under neon lights and badly wired places. Feb 27, Absolutely love my Wilde NF's. Best SC's I've ever used. Posts: 4, My votes for the hum de-bugger. My Zoom multi effects pedal, has a noise gate and is very affective.

Therefore, I don't believe noiseless pickups are the only way to go. Mar 1, Age: 73 Posts: I just got a Big Block Tele which has a chrome pickguard and it has virtually no hum on the neck and middle pickups. Mar 3, Posts: 2, I hate to argue with a guy from Texas among others on this thread but I'm a fan of the Hum Debugger.

Now I am a pretty simple simpleton? For my Blues Jr. I skip the T-Rex. And this works absolutely grand for me. I stuck with the SCNs because I don't want to mess with that guitar how unlike me , but I have parted company with all the other noiseless.

The Lawrence was nice, I'll give it that. But for me, I'll take my noisy single-coils, dampen that down to a light little hiss that even a snake would strain to hear with my Hum Debugger, and go forth bravely. Any of you boys wanna part with your useless Hum Debuggers, drop me a line. JavaScript is disabled. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.

Messages 4, There were quite a few threads about this unit when they first came out. I bought 2 and others bought units as well. IIRC, all of us sent them back because they don't work properly. Yes they do remove noise when playing clean, but if you use OD pedals it adds horrible noise that is completely unacceptable.
